Prerequisites for Participation
- Minimum age: 10 years old (Junior Open Water certification available for ages 10–14)
- Basic swimming ability and comfort in the water are required
- Good general health and reasonable fitness
- All participants must complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire (PDF)
- If any questions are answered “Yes,” a doctor’s medical clearance is required before diving
Note: Junior Open Water Divers (ages 10–11) are limited to a maximum depth of 12 meters, and must dive with a PADI Professional or certified parent/guardian.
Junior Open Water Divers (ages 12–14) are limited to 18 meters and must dive with a certified adult.
Course Schedule
- Day 1: e-Learning (before arrival)
Begin your course online at your own pace using PADI e-Learning. This allows you to complete the knowledge development portion from home using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. - Day 2: Confined Water + Open Water Dives 1 & 2
Morning: Confined water training in a shallow, controlled environment to practice basic scuba skills
Afternoon: Open Water Dives 1 & 2 in the ocean, exploring local reefs and getting comfortable underwater - Day 3: Open Water Dives 3 & 4 + Certification
Morning: Final two dives to complete your certification
Afternoon: Debriefing and certification processing — you’re now a certified Open Water Diver!
Please Note:
This course follows a performance-based structure — all knowledge, skills, and dives must be successfully completed in sequence. However, if your travel plans allow extra flexibility (such as additional nights on the island), we can adjust the schedule to better fit your needs.
For multi-day courses (e.g., Open Water, Advanced, Rescue), we recommend staying on Koh Phi Phi at least one night before your course begins. On the day before, we’ll complete paperwork, fit your rental gear, and provide a short orientation.
On the final day of your course, diving usually finishes by late morning or early afternoon. If your travel plans allow, it is possible to leave the island the same day — but please avoid booking ferries or speedboats too close to your final dive session.

Not included:
National park fees totaling 800 THB per person are not included in the course price. These fees are collected in cash by Department of National Parks (DNP) officers at the pier before each boat departure:
- Day 2: 600 THB for Open Water Dives 1 & 2
- Day 3: 200 THB for Open Water Dives 3 & 4
This fee supports marine conservation efforts within the Phi Phi National Marine Park.

Flying after diving:
After a morning trip, you must wait at least 18 hours before flying, starting from 11:00 AM
After an afternoon trip, you must wait at least 18 hours before flying, starting from 4:00 PM
Please check your flight schedule before booking.
